Michelle Lewis

Michelle Lewis is a fierce New Yorker now based in Los Angeles, where she is a singer, songwriter, composer, and music creators’ rights advocate. From her early career as a recording artist signed to Irving Azoff’s Giant Records, to her first radio hit, Cher’s “A Different Kind of Love Song” in 2002, to the 2014 worldwide #1 single “Wings” by the British girl group Little Mix, Ms. Lewis brings authenticity, musicality, and heart to a diverse array of music projects.

For the last decade, Ms. Lewis has branched out into the world of songwriting for animated television, most notably as a Peabody Award-winning composer of all original music for Disney Jr’s hit show, Doc McStuffins and Emmy-nominated songwriter of the beloved Nickelodeon series Bubble Guppies. She has over a half-dozen TV themes currently airing; including Doc McStuffins, Muppet Babies, The Harvey Street Kids, Mutt and Stuff, DC Super Hero Girls, Sydney 2 The Max, and The Loud House.

In 2014, Michelle Lewis co-founded the non-profit, Songwriters Of North America (SONA) in response to the ever-increasing complexities and disparities in digital royalties paid to songwriters and composers and has been advocating on behalf of songwriters and composers ever since.

Kay Hanley

Kay Hanley is best known as the lead singer of Boston-based alternative rock band Letters to Cleo, which released three albums between 1990-2000, spawning such hits as “Awake” and “Here and Now.”  After a 16-year hiatus, Letters To Cleo reunited in 2016 to release the EP Back To Nebraska and embark on several sold-out US tours. They are currently writing their 4th full-length studio album.

In the late 90’s, Ms. Hanley began expanding her work as a singer and songwriter, providing the singing voice for Rachael Leigh Cook’s character Josie in Universal Pictures’ feature film Josie and the Pussycats and performing cover versions of Nick Lowe’s “Cruel to be Kind” and Cheap Trick’s “I Want You To Want Me” in Touchstone Pictures’ hit film “10 Things I Hate About You.” For television, Hanley co-wrote and performed music for the Kids WB animated series Generation O! and Care Bears: Adventures In Care-A-Lot.

Hanley’s work as a solo artist includes the 2002 Zoe Records release, Cherry Marmalade, followed by 2004’s The Babydoll EP, and 2008’s Weaponize.

Today, Hanley can be found writing songs for animated television with her longtime songwriting partner, Michelle Lewis. Together, they compose music for shows like Disney Junior’s hit series Vampirina and Doc McStuffins (for which they won a Peabody Award), Dreamworks’ Harvey Street Kids and WB/Cartoon Network’s DC Super Hero Girls.

Ms. Hanley and Ms. Lewis are co-executive directors of Songwriters Of North America (SONA), a non-profit advocacy organization that fights for the protection of songs and songwriters in the digital music marketplace.

Hanley lives in Los Angeles with her two children, Zoe Mabel, 19 and Henry Aaron, 16.
